8 Awesome Benefits Of Being A Perceiver That Other Personality Types Won’t Admit

Sometimes I hate to admit this, but I love Myers-Briggs! Sometimes, I wish that there were regular conventions, where I could go discuss types and functions with people for a week straight. Preferably ones where attendees could get tee-shirts and blown-up infographics that illustrate their type. Sadly something like that will never actually happen because introverts want to unite, but separately… in their own homes.

Anyways, speaking of introverts, Google seems to have an overstock of introvert and extrovert stories. Not many cover intuition vs. sensing, or the other two MBTI dichotomies. Today, was a pretty play-by-ear day for me, and it inspired this explanation why I love being a perceiver. In case anyone is wondering what my type is as they read, I’m likely an INFP/ ENFP mutt. I like my INFP side the most because it allows me to relate to the mysterious population. My…

7 Things You Should Know Before You Date An ENFP

Pedro Ribeiro SimõesPedro Ribeiro Simões

ENFPs are all-or-nothing people in their lives and in love. They take romantic relationships seriously, yet approach them with enthusiasm and warmth. ENFPs crave meaningful connections with their partners and are likely to leave a relationship early on if that connection is absent. This type is best matched with an INFJ or INTJ — these types offer a grounded, analytical contrast to the scattered yet creative ENFP.

1. Challenge them.

Quality conversation is the ultimate foreplay for an ENFP. This type thrives on exploring new ideas and appreciates anyone who can intelligently challenge the way they think. A good debate is a good first date. The more ideas you bring to the table, the sexier you become to an ENFP. Seduction, for this type, begins in the mind.

2. Be consistent.

ENFPs have an all-or-nothing personality, which is why they are drawn to the grounded presence of…

8 Common Misconceptions About ENFPs

Thought Catalog

ENFPs have four modes of processing input: Their first is extroverted intuition (Ne), which dwells in ideas and possibilities and make connections about the world around them. The second mode is introverted feeling (Fi), which processes things according to an internal value system and analyzes how the ENFP feels. The third is extroverted thinking (Te) which organizes information in a logical fashion that produces the best possible results. The fourth is introverted sensing (Si) which organizes information and stores past experiences.

Because extroverted intuition and introverted feeling are the two main functions of ENFPs (and therefore the most readily apparent), quite a few stereotypes develop about how this type behaves and processes information. Here are eight common misconceptions about this ever-contradictory type.

1. ENFPs are go-with-the-flow

Here’s the thing about ENFPs: When we don’t care about something, we don’t care all the way. If we’ve decided that material possessions…

25 Struggles Only ENFPs Will Understand

Thought Catalog

ENFPs are passion-driven ‘ideas’ people. They gain energy from interacting with the world around them, and become quickly excited over new possibilities. Though ENFPs loves being around people, they crave alone time much more than the average extrovert. ENFPs search for a deeper meaning in just about everything, and use their much-coveted alone time to decide how their experiences fit in with their system of core values. To be frank, it’s an exhausting personality to have. Here are a few struggles most ENFPs face.

1. Getting your energy from social interaction, but disliking superficial conversations. Yes, I want to go to a party tonight. But a party full of contemplative people who want to alternate between taking shots and discussing the meaning of life.

2. Being very socially conscience but also fiercely individualistic. This means always wanting to fit in with a group, but never wanting to compromise your personality…

The past doesn’t define you, your present does.

Something horrible may have happened to you, but you always have a choice in how you respond to it. You have the “Why does bad stuff always happen to me? I’m never going to find happiness” option, and the “This sucks but I’m going to learn and evolve from it, examine what role I played in it, and ultimately it will help me become the person I’m supposed to be” option.

A bad day for your ego is a great day for your soul.

Ask yourself this: How much deprivation, how much self-effacement must you suffer through before you act on your desire for meaning and fulfillment? Before it’s your turn to thrive in your life, instead of barely surviving it? Some people live their dreams. Why not you?

Why choose to fail when success is an option?

17 Things To Do When He Unexpectedly Hurts You

Thought Catalog

1. Let the tears flood the pain.

You need to cry. Whether it is for 3 minutes, or 3 hours, let the tears drown your sorrows for at least the first night. Your hurt heart deserves to let everything out.

2. Occupy your mind.

Make yourself busy. Do not sit around and think because that could be very dangerous. Do activities that you find to be therapeutic. Paint, write, run until your lungs give out. Whatever it is that you need to do to keep your mind away from him, do it.

3. Do not question.

Why? What if? Is this what I deserve? Was it me? Was it something I did? You’ll never find the answers to these questions, and even if you did they wouldn’t benefit your situation in any way. No matter how many questions you ask yourself, or him, it doesn’t change the fact that…
